Day 11

132, not too bad. Only up .4. I'm blaming it all on the pudding, but I still feel it was worth it!

Almost the same exact diet today except I had coffee for breakfast with 2 tablespoons of milk.

For lunch I had my cottage cheese and strawberries, for snack I had melba toast and strawberries, and for dinner I had my chicken and melba toast. I haven't had any vegetables today, I need to go to the grocery store tonight and get some. I do have asparagus so I'll eat some of that tonight and probably a cucumber with lemon juice and salt.

I can't believe it's only been 11 days and it's been so hard! I never realized how much of a psychological eater I am, it just never affected my weight until I got pregnant so I never noticed. I would just eat what I wanted when I wanted and it wouldn't make a difference. It's not even that I'm hungry, it's just that I want FOOD. I want to EAT!

It doesn't help that we have food around the office all the time. 2 pizza parties within the last week, someone brought in cupcakes today, there was a whole bowl of candy and chocolate put out, etc. It's been tough! I guess I've been doing quite well considering all the temptation!

Well, hopefully I'm back to losing weight tomorrow. I'm going to visit my family this weekend for the 4th of July and am seriously considering taking a little break from my diet, but I'll see how I feel tomorrow. I also really want to look as good as possible by this weekend, so I may just keep going :)

Day 10

131.6. Woo hoo! Back to losing weight. Lesson learned = do not cheat (also learned that if I do cheat slightly I can make it up pretty easily...). My goal weight is 120 (well, 117 would be nice but I'll be happy with 120) so only 11 lbs to go! I'm hoping I can accomplish that in the next 15 days or less so I can move onto phase 3 of the diet.

For breakfast I just had my tea, no coffee today.

For lunch I had 1 cup of cottage cheese with stawberries. I had my melba toast for a snack.

Later in the afternoon I had 1/2 of grapefruit and another melba toast. I then had a bit of an early dinner at about 4:30 in which I ate about 1 1/2 cups of asparagus, bellpeppers and onions that I had steamed with low-sodium, non-fat chicken broth. I also had 1/2 of my 3.5 oz of chicken.

At about 7 I had the rest of my chicken. By the time I got of work at 9:15 I was pretty hungry and really craving pudding. So I caved. I went and bought (and ate) some sugar free pudding (60 calories a serving). I was still under my 500 calories but a cheat is a cheat :( We'll see what happens.

Day 9

133.8. I gained back over a pound! I take full responsibility and blame it on my cheating :(

So today I am sticking to the diet 100%. For breakfast I had my tea, a little coffee with 1 tablespoon of milk. I had a melba toast in the late morning.

For lunch I had my non-fat cottage cheese with strawberries and more tea. I had cut up some radishes and put balsalmic vinegar on them in my lunch bag and I was going to eat those, but I learned that I should've just brought the vinegar with me, because by the time I went to eat them they were all soggy and kinda weird tasting, so I didn't end up eating them.

For dinner I had 3.5 oz of steak and a bit later I had 1/2 a grapefruit. For snack later I had my melba toast. I didn't get any veggies in today, which is not good. I have some asparagas I'm going to cook up for tomorrow.

Hope I lose the weight back!

Day 8

132! Holy cow, lost 1.6 lbs yesterday!

Today I have had a very hard time restraining myself. I have been out with friends all day, which means food. We hung out in a coffee shop in the morning and I had my tea, but then I had a little bit of egg from my daughter's sausage breakfast sandwich.

For lunch I had 3.5 oz of steak, a couple strawberries and my melba toast.

In the afternoon we went to a potluck, which was hard. Lots of yummy food around. I brought a little salad with some tomatoes, onions, chicken and eggs. All food I'm allowed to eat. But then I couldn't resist, I had 2 crackers with cheese. Not a whole bunch, but definitely not part of the diet.

For a snack later I had 1/2 of a grapefruit. No wine tonight, just tea :)

I'm curious to see what will happen with my weight tomorrow. It seems odd that I was losing more weight when I drank wine. I'm not sure if the 2 small pieces of cheese with crackers that I had will affect anything...

Day 7

133.6! Yay! I lost 1.2 lbs, despite my cheating! I still hope the cheating doesn't come back and bite me in the butt later, but for now it was worth it!

So, starting out today I had a tiny bit of coffee with 1 tablespoon of milk. I would've had more because I'm so tired but the coffee wasn't very good, so I just drank a couple sips. I had my tea and some melba toast.

For lunch I kind of split it up. I'm not sure if this is cheating or not but I had 1/2 cup of non-fat cottage cheese with strawberries (sooo good!) and 1/2 of my chicken (about 1.5 oz). I'm not sure if that's "allowed" on the diet or not, but it works for me. I also had another melba toast.

For dinner I had 3.5 oz of steak and more tea. I totally missed the veggies and never ended up having my other fruit. I then, AGAIN, drank wine (it's been a really rough week, but that's no excuse). We shall see what toll this takes...

Day 6

Down to 134.8, yay! Lost .6 since yesterday, not bad.

I cheated a little for breakfast and had 2 tablespoons of milk instead of 1 (with my daughter having a fever last night sleep was very poor and I am TIRED) because I wanted to have a little bit more coffee. I then had my usual tea.

For lunch I had cottage cheese with an apple and 1 melba toast. Lunch was TORTURE! They were having the pizza party at work, my favorite, and everyone was eating pizza around me, with the whole office smelling like pizza. I honestly wanted to cry. But I just reflected on the fact that I've lost 5 lbs this week and I can live for 6 weeks without pizza (barely!). I week down, 5 to go (2 or 3 weeks before I don't have to have such a restricted diet).

For afternoon snack I had another melba toast and 1/2 grapefruit. For dinner I had 3.5 oz of chicken and a salad of romaine lettuce and tomato with my salad dressing.

I then totally cheated and wrapped up my night with a glass of white wine...we'll see what happens tomorrow!

Day 5

Down to 135.4, only lost .2 lbs but hey, it's better than nothing.

For breakfast I had my tea and about 2 oz of coffee with 1 tablespoon of milk. I ate a melba toast later in the morning.

For lunch I had 3/4 cup of non-fat cottage cheese with 1/2 an apple (I cut the apple up and put it in the cottage cheese). I also at my second melba toast.

For an afternoon snack I had 2 cups of romaine lettuce with my salad dressing (this covers my two veggies for the day).

I then got thrown a loop and had to leave work early because my daughter had a fever. I went and picked her up from the babysitter and took her home to try to get her fever down. All of the concentration was on her and by about 5:30 I realized I was very hungry. I ate my 3.5 oz of chicken and then realized I'd forgotten to take my drops (which I'm supposed to take 30 min before eating). So I took my drops after I ate dinner.

After that I was fine, didn't really feel hungry. Later on I had another melba toast and 1/2 a grapefruit with a little stevia. All and all calories came out to about 450 for the day.

Day 4

At 135.6! Woo hoo! That's the lowest my weight has been in about 2 years. I'm so happy! I like to see hard work paying off :)

Today I had my usual tea for breakfast. I also had a tiny bit of coffee with 1 tablespoon of milk.

For a morning snack I had an apple which I warmed up in the microwave and sprinkled with a tiny bit of stevia.

I had some chicken for lunch that I had cooked the day before (with lemon juice, garlic salt and pepper). I also ate my melba toast and a tomato with balsamic vinegar and lemon juice.

For dinner I made shrimp, which I seasoned with lemon juice, cumin, garlic, garlic salt, black and red pepper and cayanne pepper. I let it simmer for about 45 minutes. I just ate the shrimp and for my husband I made some pasta with olive oil, which I poured his shrimp and the sauce from the juices/spices over. My husband LOVED it. I'm not a shrimp fan but it was pretty good.

Later that night I had 1/2 a grapefruit with stevia and 1 more melba toast.

All and all for the day my calories came out to about 440 and I wasn't hungry at all :)

Day 3 of VLCD, Day 6 of HCG

So today is the 3rd day of the very low calorie diet. My "time of the month" ended up starting yesterday, so that could explain the no weight loss for the first day and it seems to have made it a little harder to stick to the diet today. I have more cravings and feel a tiny bit more hungry. Nothing I can't get past with a little determination. However, I did lose a pound yesterday and was 137.2 when I stepped on the scale this morning, yay!

Today I had tea for breakfast (I've been drinking green tea with a little bit of stevia). Late morning I had 1 melba toast and some strawberries. For lunch at about 1:30 I had 3.5 oz of chicken flavored with lemon juice, garlic salt and pepper (yum!). Shortly after this I had a romaine lettuce salad with some dressing I made this morning with lemon juice, balsalmic vinegar, garlic salt and pepper. It was a little tart but pretty good. For a snack around 4:30 I had another melba toast and some strawberries. For dinner around 7:30 I had 3.5 oz of steak (flavored with garlic salt and pepper) and a cucumber with the salad dressing I had made.

I've been trying to up my water instead of just drinking tea throughout the day, but I need to work on that more. Overall it's going quite well. I can already tell Thursday (which will be day 6 of VLCD) will be hard because I just found out we're having a pizza party at work. Pizza is my absolute favorite food, so it's going to be hard to deal with. I wish I could just take that day off... :(

Starting blog at Day 2 of VLCD

I saw that a few others had done blogs documenting their progress on the HCG diet and I thought this was a great idea. I'm hoping it will be motivating and will also possibly help others get through it as well. I wish I had thought to do this on Wednesday, 5 days ago, when I started this, but now I'll have to play catch up.

On Wednesday my HCG arrived in the mail. I am doing the sublingual version (oral drops) and I purchased a 2 oz bottle. I got the bottle in the afternoon but I was so excited I decided to start it right away. I tried to eat as much as possible the day, but I know I didn't eat that much. I did have a large blueberry muffin and a vanilla latte that night, which were delicious.

On Thursday I continued the drops, taking 10 drops 3 times a day. I had my usual vanilla coffee with cream in the morning, plus a sausage breakfast sandwich, an apple turnover mid afternoon, pizza for lunch, another apple turnover...and I'm not sure what else I had. I did my best to load it up.

On Friday my weight was 139.6. For the last day of loading, I had an especially large coffee in the morning since I knew I wouldn't be able to have my coffee with cream and vanilla for a while. I then proceeded to have a sausage breakfast sandwich, lots of pizza, steak with potatoes and some creamy sauce, cookies, wine, etc.

Saturday my weight was 138.2. Kinda nice that I lost weight despite eating all that junk food. I am still floundering a bit on exactly what to eat and when to eat it, but I did my best. I wasn't actually even hungry in the morning, which is unusual for me. I had my drops and drank lots of tea. Around 11 am I had a melba toast. I didn't get lunch until about 2:30, when I had 3.5 oz of chicken.

I had misunderstood the diet and thought that you were supposed to only have 1 fruit, 1 toast, and 1 veggie throughout the day. Later that afternoon I re-read it and realized my mistake. I then ate an apple and a tomato along with my chicken for dinner. Later that night I ate some strawberries and an orange. I "cheated" and had an additional melba toast, which put my calories at 505 for the day. Overall it was much easier than on thought.

Sunday, day 2 of low calorie diet. Weight was 138.2, very disappointing. I did realize that on Saturday I had 3 fruits and 1 vegetable instead of 2 fruits and 2 vegetables, so that may have made some difference.

I had tea for breakfast and then a melba toast with a tomato at about 9:30. I ate some strawberries at about 11am. I had a 3.5 oz steak at about 12:30pm. At this point I realized that I am not supposed to have beef twice a day, yet unfortunately that's what I have already for dinner and I have no way to make anything else :( I had a cucumber at about 2:30.

For dinner I will have 2 oz of steak instead of the 3.5 oz I had prepared. I then also have 1 more melba toast and an apple to eat. I have been trying to drink more actual water today, since yesterday I just drank tea and very little plain water. I also had about 2 oz of coffee this morning with 1 tablespoon of milk. The total calories should come out to about 460 for the day.

Tomorrow's post will be better since I won't be trying to play catch up and remember what happened. Hopefully I will also see some movement in my weight.
